TRAUMA RECOVERY & EMDR THERAPY
You can heal.
EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION & REPROCESSING
Trauma has a way of lingering, even when we think we’ve left it behind. You might notice strong reactions to certain situations without knowing why. The good news? Healing is possible.
EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a powerful therapy that helps reorganize difficult memories that interfere with your daily life. When we face overwhelming or painful experiences, those moments can get “stuck” in our minds and bodies. This creates patterns of avoidance or overreaction as your brain tries to protect you.
Through EMDR, we identify negative beliefs about yourself and focus on them during the session. Using techniques like eye movements, tapping, or auditory sounds, we stimulate both sides of the brain to process painful material. This allows those memories to be stored in a healthier way, helping you develop new, positive beliefs about yourself.
Research shows EMDR is incredibly effective for PTSD and can also help with anxiety, phobias, panic attacks, substance abuse, grief, and even gender dysphoria or trauma related to gender transition experiences.
It’s worth noting that bilateral stimulation has roots far older than modern therapy. African, Indigenous, and other cultures have used these healing practices for generations. In my practice, I honor these traditions by incorporating ancestral practices like drumming and dancing in my work with BIPOC clients if desired.
EMDR is just one tool in the healing process, and together we can explore what works best for you. Let’s move toward the freedom and peace you deserve. The therapist you choose may also have other trauma recovery methods to offer as well.

EMDR FOR TRAUMA RECOVERY (AND MORE!)

Bilateral stimulation—such as tapping, eye tracking, drumming, or dancing—can be done virtually and facilitates faster, more effective trauma recovery than talk therapy alone.
In addition to regular therapy sessions, I offer EMDR Intensives for those in NC through my coaching practice, Emerge Brave Coaching. These 2-hour and 3-hour sessions are designed to enhance the pace and depth of recovery.
